Yet another reason to do a quick check of your survival gear and survival food stores. In this instance it sounds like the solar flare will have a minimal impact. But these things can happen with very short notice, and it is always better to be prepared. If not for this event, then for another more serious event. Article below:
Jan. 22 at 10:59 p.m. EST, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory caught an extreme ultraviolet flash from a huge eruption that originated from our sun.
According to NOAA, this is the strongest solar radiation storm since May 2005, and as a precaution, polar flights on Earth are expected to be re-routed within the next few hours, Kathy Sullivan, deputy administrator of NOAA, said today at the 92nd annual American Meteorological Society meeting in New Orleans, La. A barrage of charged particles triggered by this morning’s solar flare is expected to hit Earth tomorrow at around 9 a.m. EST (1400 GMT), according to experts at the Space Weather Prediction Center, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Scientists call these electromagnetic bursts “coronal mass ejections” (CMEs), and they are closely studied because they can produce potentially harmful geomagnetic storms when the charged particles rain down Earth’s magnetic field lines.
In addition to generating stronger than normal displays of Earth’s auroras (also known as the northern and southern lights), geomagnetic storms aimed directly at our planet can also disrupt satellites in orbit, cause widespread communications interference and damage other electronic infrastructures.

Note from page Editor: There is some concern regarding solar flares knocking out entire power grids, and it has happened in the past. This is a great example of a green level event. For further reading on this site check out this link; survival awareness.
It is all over the local news for October 30th and 31st. Major snow storm hits the northeast and millions are without electrical power, and in many areas it is suspected to be almost a week before power is restored. This is a prime example of a green level event, and one that you should be able to prepare for if living in climates that get snow storms.
Connecticut: 800,000 without power
Massachusetts: 640,000 without power Continue reading “Good Example Of A Green Level Survival Event – Current News”
If you have been watching the news over the past few weeks you have heard of the Iran linked terror plot to assassinate foreign ambassadors on U.S. soil by means of an implemented explosive device (IED). More recently there has been another terror plot uncovered in Texas where five foreign Muslims were arrested and found with pictures of “infrastructure” around the country including malls, government buildings and water systems. A quick internet search of news over the last few months will show many terrorist plots being uncovered all around the world, and some some places they are not uncovered in time and people die.
The threats are out there, and it is no hidden secret that terrorist groups would like nothing more than to be able to get their hands on radiological material and detonate a bomb on United States soil or one of our allies far that matter. It was just this past anniversary date of 9/11 that it was suspected a dirty bomb was going to be detonated in or around New York City. Terrorist are much more likely to be able to get their hands on material for a dirty bomb than have the ability to detonate a nuclear bomb. So for now lets focus on dirty bombs and what we can do to prepare. Continue reading “Survival Awareness – Terrorist Detonated Dirty Bomb”
An event is what most preppers term as the reason we may find ourselves in a survival situation such as a pandemic, hurricane, ice storm, etc…
An “event” is also used in conjunction with a color code system used to define the length of time a survival situation may last.
Green Event – lasting up to 10 days. Typically this kind of event can be handled by hunkering down inside your home. Such as riding out flooding from a hurricane, or waiting for the power company to restore electric power after an ice storm that brought down the power lines. This is the most common event duration to be prepared for, and how you go about preparing for such an event can Continue reading “Survival Planning – ‘Event’ Color Code System”
